Lou Gehrig is my all time favorite baseball player even though he died many years before I was born. He was more than one of the greatest players in the history, he was also a loving son, husband, and a wonderful role model to so many kids AND when asked by a sports writer in the late 1930s lf blacks should be allowed to play in the major leagues answered "Yes of course, if they are good enough , then they should be allowed to play. Why not?" (Something a lot of people dont know about him) he was humble and grateful and moral person with one major vice, he smoked alot and I can tell you there is a strong correlation between ALS and smoking. Always be positive, no matter the outcome. I don't believe I've ever heard anything bad about him, or anything about him being angry about anything. Certainly a role model for everyone across all walks of life and all ages. You are, and will be missed very much, Willie. I'm sure you know that you took a piece of the heart of baseball with you. I think he is a bit overrated. He will probably the best 2 way player in recent times. But by no means will he be the best hitter or pitcher by the end of his career. Who knows maybe in a few years as he gets older the Dodgers may force him to choose one or other because they can’t risk him getting hurt.
